About

Lisa Houser- Mosaicist

Mosaics and Picassiette are a forgiving medium. My art reflects direct moments in my life and are not without forethought. There is a cathartic process in the breaking of things and re-creating something from the shards. My mosaics are also the process of re-cycle, renew and re-energizing of items which may have been easily discarded or ignored.

As a physical therapist (in real life) I am most intrigued by the human body as a canvas of who we are and of our life-experiences. By using mannequins and their parts and pieces, I am able to facilitate the telling of my own stories and my observations of the human appearance in a tangible form. When I have moments of creative whim, I may also use other substrates to express a story, share a moment or aknowledge an emotion.

I am self-taught and as in life, I have made a few mistakes and have had a few successes.

My mosaics have been displayed in personal homes, businesses, and in local galleries.
